50-year-old decommissioned military factory buildings with a unique architectural style. It is located in Dashanzi, Chaoyang District of the city, and houses a thriving artistic community. It was designed and built in the early fifties by the Germans. The old imposing industrial buildings are still there, but beginning of the 21st century the complex was transformed into an art village. Hans Fonk made enlightening photos and photographic collages printed on canvas and painted with natural and ancient Chinese pigments.
